Brian Thomson's second book is another wonderful helping of Doric verse. It is amazing to think that Brian didn't start to write until he was nearly 68, proving that you are never too old to try something new. His first Doric poem, The Cattleman, appears in this book. But it was the Strichen Festival that turned him into a poet. When he won the Robbie Shepherd Quaich and was presented with the trophy by the great man himself it was inspirational. Yes, Robbie certainly encouraged Brian to keep going with his writing and now he is the proud winner of the Quaich more times than I’ve had hot dinners! His latest winning poem Lizzie’s Steys is featured in this wonderful collection as well. So you may be sure you are in for a treat.
