As a Community Interest Company, Doric Books exists to benefit the Doric speaking community.  Our aim is to see Doric valued and enjoyed across the whole of the North-East of Scotland and beyond.  With this in mind we offer online or in situ Doric Workshops and Doric Blethers to schools and community groups.

In this workshop you’ll find out about all the animals on the farm and what the farmer does all day long. Using a mixture of hands-on activities, games, songs and the wonderful book ‘Old McDonald has a Farm’, you’ll learn the Doric names of all the farmer's animals and maybe a few other words as well. You'll have the opportunity to make a puppet or a mask and join in with making up your own tale.

In iss wirkshop ye’ll explore fit folk weer.  Ye'll learn e Doric wirdies for aa kins o claes an fit they luik like.  Eesin a mixter o hauns-on activities, games, sangs an stories ye'll think aboot e claes folk weer for different jobs or speeshal occasions.  Ye'll hae e chunce tae dress up, design yer ain rig-oot an jyne in wi maakin up a wee sang.

 

'What an Outfit!' Wirkshop

In this workshop you’ll explore what people wear.  You'll learn the Doric words for all kinds of clothes and what they look like.  Using a mixture of hands-on activities, games, songs and stories you'll think about the clothes people wear for different jobs or special occasions.  You'll have the opportunity to dress up, design your own outfit and join in with creating a song.
